SAFER gives monthly cash help with rent to B.C. renters aged 60 or older with low to moderate incomes. BC Housing runs it and you reapply every year.

Who qualifies
- You are 60 or older and have lived in B.C. for 12 months
- You pay more than 30% of gross income on rent
- Your gross income is under about $40,000 a year
- You meet citizenship/status rules and file taxes
- You do not live in subsidized housing or receive provincial income or disability assistance
How to apply
- Download the SAFER application from BC Housing
- Attach proof of income and rent
- Submit by mail or online upload
- Reapply every year
