BenefitCanada.ca ("we") helps you discover government benefits. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

• Account: your email address, an optional first name, and a securely hashed password.
• Questionnaire answers: general household details (province, age range, income range, family and life situation). We never ask for your name, SIN, date of birth or address.
• Technical logs: error logs kept for up to 30 days.

How we use it

Only to produce your benefit report and email it to you. Your answers are sent to OpenAI (ChatGPT) to generate the report, with storage on their side turned off. We do not sell or share your information for marketing.

How we protect it

Questionnaire answers and reports are encrypted in our database (AES-256). Passwords are hashed with PBKDF2. The site is served only over HTTPS.

Your choices

You can delete any report at any time from "My reports". To delete your account entirely, email [email protected] from your account email.
