The B.C. Family Benefit is a tax-free monthly payment for families with children under 18 in British Columbia. It is combined with the Canada Child Benefit and needs no separate application.

How much

July 2026 to June 2027, per month: up to $145.83 first child, $91.66 second, $75.00 each additional; single-parent families may get up to $41.66 more. Reduced above $30,176 of adjusted family net income, with minimum amounts kept until $96,562.

When it's paid

Monthly, with the CCB.

Who qualifies

  • You live in B.C.
  • You are eligible for the Canada Child Benefit
  • You and your spouse file tax returns every year
  • Your adjusted family net income is within the benefit range

How to apply

  1. Apply for the Canada Child Benefit
  2. File taxes every year (both partners)
  3. The CRA calculates BCFB automatically
