The Child Disability Benefit is extra tax-free money added to the Canada Child Benefit for a child with a disability. Your child must be approved for the Disability Tax Credit.
How muchFor July 2026–June 2027: up to $3,480 per year ($290/month) per eligible child. It is reduced when adjusted family net income is over $82,847 (3.2% for one eligible child, 5.7% for two or more).
When it's paidAdded automatically to your monthly CCB payment.
Who qualifies
- You are eligible for the Canada Child Benefit
- Your child is under 18
- Your child is approved for the Disability Tax Credit
How to apply
- Make sure you are receiving the CCB for the child
- Apply for the Disability Tax Credit for the child (Form T2201, certified by a medical practitioner)
- Once the DTC is approved, the CRA adds the CDB automatically
- For first approvals the CRA reviews up to two earlier years; ask your tax centre in writing for older years
