ACFB gives quarterly payments to lower-income Alberta families with children under 18. It has a base part and a working part for families with employment income.

How much

July 2026 to June 2027 per year: base $1,529 first child and $764 each for 2nd-4th; working component (with working income over $2,760) $782, $712, $426, $141 for children 1-4.

When it's paid

Quarterly in August, November, February and May, separate from the CCB.

Who qualifies

  • You live in Alberta
  • You care for children under 18 and qualify for the CCB
  • You file your taxes every year
  • Income within the limits (base reduced above $28,116; working part reduced above $47,115)

How to apply

  1. Apply for the CCB
  2. File your return each year
  3. CRA calculates ACFB automatically
